Darn Those Knits

Learn how to repair your well-loved knits.

One 3-hour class

Skills learned:

tdarning by making patches
tdarning by using duplicate stitch
tdarning by knitting a patch and grafting
tdarning by needle felting
tusing darning egg
tpreventing problems

Materials:

tapprox 30 yrds of different weight yarns – sockweight, dk and worsted
tcorresponding needles to yarn you’ve brought
tdarning needle
tdarning egg
tpencil or pen
tswatches (at least 3)

Homework:

Make and bring 3 swatches in stockinette (at least 3” x 3” but larger than that is easier to practice on) that will be cut into or sewn into. If you have knitting with rips, tears, holes or worn out places, bring it in, and we will use the last part of class to brainstorm solutions.
