DUCT TAPE DRESS FORM: A dress form is a helpful tool to have for blocking and to check the fit of a garment in progress. Learn how to use a dress form and make a dress form just for you.
Skills Covered: How to take measurements, adjust a pattern for different sizes, and common problems when making modifications to a pattern. The majority of the class is used in making the dress forms. Finally, the class will discuss ways of using the dress form: for blocking, draping, and adjusting fit.
Max class size: 12
Students Should Bring:
- 150-200 yds duct tape (do not purchase Gorilla Tape® – it is TOO sticky!)
- 2 t-shirts that will be cut up
- Sturdy wooden hanger
- Scissors
- Pen and pencil
- Measuring tape
- Form-fitting shirt for taking measurements
- Students should not wear necklaces or dangly earrings. Hair should be pulled back away from neck. Please wear undergarments that are supportive and typical to what you wear every day.
